- Opening Ceremony of 2019/2020 cricket season/ formal Launch of the newly constructed International Turf Wicket and Send off in honor of Mr. R. O. Igbinadolor (former Principal of Edo Boys High School).
The 6th day of March, 2020 marked the ceremonial launch of the newly constructed Edo Turf/ Opening of the 2019/2020 Cricket season and the sendoff of Mr. R. O. Igbinadolor- the just retired Principal of Edo Boys High School.
Present in the occasion was the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) PresidentProf. Yahaya Ukwenya, Vice-President (NCF) and Edo State Cricket Association Chairman- Mr. Uyi Akpata, Secretary General (NCF)- Mr. Taiwo Orris, National Coach- Ogbimi Uthe, NCF Board Member- Mr. Oludare Aimola, Richson Tetteh, Mr. Tonye Timinadi, Mr. Joseph Oche Onoja, Mr. Mike Oboh, Mr. Bodie Musa Ehizojie.
Also present was Edo State Governor -Godwin Obaseki represented by his Deputy, Philip Shaibu, Chairman, Sports Commission- Godwin DuduOrumen, Principals/ game masters and students of various Schools participating in the game of Cricket. Edo Boys High School teachers also turned up to celebrate with their ex-principal on his sendoff, the Media and sports enthusiasts were not left out.
The highlights of the program saw the distribution of sport wears to all Secondary School students, T10 ceremonial matches amongst Under17 Female team vs Over17 Female team, Under19 Male team vs Over19 Male team. Deputy Governor- Philip Shaibu commended the efforts of the Chairman, Edo State Cricket Association on the newly constructed International Turf Wickets congratulating him on not allowing the game to die in the State and he urged every student to take advantage of the growth and development of the game in Edo State and hopefully, attain more medals. He therefore advanced to the presentation of retirement gift to Mr. R. O. Igbinadolor and also presented the U15 National Youth Games 2019 (male and female) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (male and female) U17 champions with their medals.
The end of the ceremony was marked with sendoff match by selected players from Edo Boys High School.
- Presentation of Handwashing and Sanitizing Machines from PETs Foundation
PETS Foundation formally commissioned and presented Four (4) Hand washing and sanitizing machines to Edo Boys High School and Edo State Cricket Association on the 18th of August 2020.
It was another pleasant surprising day for the Principals (Senior and Junior), Staff, Students of Edo Boys High School, Cricket family and friends in Edo State as Mrs. Frances O. A., the Executive Director of PETs Foundation, formally commissioned and presented the Hand washing and sanitizing 5 machines to Edo State Cricket Association and Edo Boys High School at the School premises in Ugbowo, Benin City.
The School Principals: Mr. Aghado N. J., (Senior school), Mr. Omoregie G. O., (Junior school) and a Board Member of the Association, Mr. Uthe Ogbimi were on ground to receive the machines.
They were all happy and grateful to PETs Foundation for the timely intervention and support to the School and Association with such standard machines at this critical time/season that Covid 19 pandemic is ravaging Nations and threatening health safety cum total well-being of humanity.
Special thanks and prayers were sent to Mr. Uyi Akpata, the Distinguished Vice President/Chairman of Nigeria Cricket Federation/Edo State Cricket Association on behalf of the entire Staff/Students of the School and Cricket Family/ Fans in Edo State and beyond. Players and Students were not left out of the celebration as their body language speaks volumes and their joy knew no bounds.
