The tournament, featuring eight clubs across two zones, showcased the talents of female cricketers from Edo and Rivers States. In a thrilling finale, Ekpoma Supernova clinched the title, highlighting the impact of partnerships like Pets Foundation in advancing women’s cricket in Nigeria.
EDO CRICKET ASSOCIATION OUTREACH
The Edo State Cricket Association’s Christmas Extravaganza celebrated the conclusion of the 2021/22 Cricket League and introduced cricket to the community with the launch of branded equipment. Over 200 children received gift packages and enjoyed demonstrations at Edo Boys High School. The event extended its reach to the International Christian Centre IDP Camp, where cricket fostered unity through friendly matches and gift distributions, leaving a lasting impact of positivity and inclusivity within the community.
2021/2022 EDO MALE AND FEMALE CRICKET LEAUGE AND AWARD CEREMONY.
The 2021/2022 Edo Male and Female Cricket League commenced with grandeur, marking a milestone as the first of its kind in Nigeria and West Africa. Notable events included the opening game between Ekpoma Supernova Cricket Club and Idia Royals Cricket Club, alongside the U-17 Cricket Club’s triumphant title retention. A seminar aimed at enhancing game knowledge among volunteers was conducted, fostering grassroots cricket development. Additionally, a heartwarming Easter Outreach to IDP Camp Ohogua showcased the association’s commitment to community engagement, exemplified by a fun-filled cricket game for children and provision of essential supplies, all generously sponsored by Mr. Uyi Akpata. The gesture was met with gratitude, emphasizing the positive impact of cricket in fostering unity and support within the community.
